Dispute.

Me and a friend of mine are looking through Tome of Magic, and he is convinced that Metashadow Feats, based on the text, don't increase the effective spell level, and I say that part saying "Metashadow Feats function identically to Metamagic feats in all ways not specifically contradicted herein," says otherwise. He is of the opinion that he can cast a quickened Time Stop in this way, which sounds ridiculous to me. What do you think?

Arcane Spellsurge and a Metamagic Rod of Quicken Spell also allow you to get off Time Stop as a swift action.

Yes, you can do that. But it shouldn't be right there as just a class ability and one feat. Holes in game mechanics should only be found by peolpe paying too much attention.

I agree it probably doesn't work like that, just letting you know how it would stand if it did vs other classes.

I agree, it's not the most broken thing, and Shadowcasters are pretty underpowered due to many restrictions inherent in the class mechanics, but I'd allow it if the rules supported it. I just don't think they do, and I'm looking for a logical arguement other than the most obvious I one already made.
