D&D 5E divine rogue

The big issue I'm seeing, now that I look closer at Arcane Trickster, is that most of spells must be illusion or enchantment. Clerics have very few enchantment and don't have illusion spells.

Thoughts?
Clerical magic would help the rogue via skill enhancement, luck and divination. Oh and the silence spell.

So instead of using illusions and wits, the character would rely on divine guidance.

I don't know that there would be any issues with it...

Although, I am not really certain why you wouldn't create the character as a type of Bard given that the Bard already conceptually combines Rogue aspects along with a mix of wizard and cleric spells. It does lack the sneak attack abilities of the Rogue, but if you are going Arcane Trickster with cleric abilities I wonder if damage output is even your focus.

I would just consider if the character concept doesn't better fall under the umbrella of being a sort of Bard rather than a sort of Rogue.

He does want the damage. He's essentially trying to make 4e Avenger style character only more on the Rogue side than Paladin. Lots of skulking, jumpibg from shadows, and backstabbing for their god.

A Bard would generally trade out the Rogur parts for more spellcasting- which would really be the more optimal choice power wise- and suppprt but the player doesn't want full caster progression and wants the character to be less vicarious in their slaying.

The more I think about it, the more this could work. Just the guidance cantrip alone would be of great help for a rogue. And can you imagine an inflict wound touch attack?
