I don't recall the current wording of the spell, but previous editions said that it would make you a body that was typical of the beings which were found in the area, e.g. if you wanted to come back as an orc, then you would go to a place where only orcs lived and cast the spell there.

I like this idea.

Nothing personal, it's just there is a lot of preachy Hindus (Jainists, Krishna cults, you name it) where I live and I am slowly starting to hate them. Honestly, I am starting to miss Jehovah's witnesses by now.

Well lets put it this way and reference the beginning of the thread: the goal is to reincarnate as something you like instead of something you don't. How do you typically get what you want in D&D? By playing well and being on good terms with the table and more importantly, the DM. So, from that standpoint, if you have amassed "good karma" with the table, you might simply be able to ask the DM to pick what you come back as, from a list of reasonable possible outcomes.

The "list of acceptable reincarnations" is basically limited to the PHB races anyway. So it's really just like making a new character at the same level your old character was. I really don't see, as a DM, why I wouldn't let you pick aside from the humor in rolling up a potentially silly result. The player probably wouldn't enjoy that so I might as well let you pick anyway.

Although, I would tempt you with the "big list", that is, if I roll for your reincarnation, there's a chance you could come back as literally ANY sentient creature.
