How does your DM give thanks to the players?

In our game at the end of each session, the players usually thank the DM by saying "Thanks for running." I usually thank them for thanking me, or say "Thanks for playing."

My better players write me an email the very next day (sometimes timestamped late in the evening after the session has ended!) specifically thanking me for hosting, the hard work, and making it fun. In addition, when they can they specifically spell out their favorite parts and ask about hints I've dropped during the sessions. :)

Thanking me for trying to kill their characters week after week? Thanking me for the misery and drama I put them through?

No, their weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth is thanks enough. :p

(Actually, they thank me by telling me how great the sessions are and by providing me with free snacks and drinks during the sessions.)

In the traditional fashion.

By questioning his every ruling, complaining the encounters are too hard, the treasure is too little, building the most broken character build possible, and avoiding his plot hooks like the plague.

The ten foot gold idol was nice, but when they got me a harem palace of 120 carefully selected concubines, well... it got me all misty.

I mean, when you use a number so often in your games, well, it's nice that someone notices.

If my players are reading: *sniff* I love you guys.
