Dmg II

Yes, that plus the Wet Wench was nigh irresistible.

Does that qualify as the Random Prostitute encounter table?

The Auld Grump

More important is the question: Do you have to roll for their races separately? Some people like a bit of variety.

It's half -- half -- HALF a book in one! ;) Considering it takes two books to tell what the 1st ed. DMG to tell in one, this is the half I've been waiting for a while now.

I have seriously thought about picking it up, given that one of the co-authors is Robin Laws, whose work I've been more and more enamored of recently. I can always use more advice on being a good DM, and depending on its format, I may be strongly recommending this to one or two budding DMs in our gaming group if it's what I think it is.

Well, you just perked up my ears. I've bought stuff by Robin Laws for games i don't like, and been pleased. As far as i'm concerned, he can do no wrong. This might just be the first thing from WotC to be worth my money since...Ars Magica.

Then you should thank your blessing that WotC allowed this via OGL. If you want "outside-the-sandbox" approach this core rules system, then don't look for it in WotC. Their pool of game designers is ankle-deep. You're better off searching game companies now run by former WotC/TSR employees, like Monte Cook.

I hardly consider support for common fantasy archetypes like swashbuckler, shaman, totem warrior, con artist, or barbarian (not berserker) to be "thinking outside the box" in fantasy game design.

Perhaps, but then most gamers may not like WotC's take on them. So you do have a variety to choose from.

Just noticed they changed the color of the cover graphic on the WotC website back to blue. Thas' good. It would have bugged me inordinately if it came out with a brown "player focused" cover. Ewww.

Okay, now you're being very finicky, like you're a fashion/art guru of the gaming world. :p

Frankly, I don't care what color the cover art has: vomit green or stool brown. It's the content inside that matters to me.

So stop bugging WotC about the covers or else they lose focus on the material in between.
