DMG2- will its rules appear in the SRD?

Um no

UA was open content because most of it was open content taken from d20 games and supplements.

Looking at my copy of UA, I find precious little material taken from other d20 games and supplements. Swords of out fathers and Mutants and Masterminds are credited in the infamous Section 15, but that unforunately is it.

Wizards is not bound by the OGL.
Of course Wizards is bound by the OGL. They've given me permission to use the SRD in certain ways, and they have to abide by that license agreement. And it is forever:
OGL 1.0a said:
4. Grant and Consideration: In consideration for agreeing to use this License, the Contributors grant You a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license with the exact terms of this License to Use, the Open Game Content.
OGL 1.0a said:
9. Updating the License: Wizards or its designated Agents may publish updated versions of this License. You may use any authorized version of this License to copy, modify and distribute any Open Game Content originally distributed under any version of this License.
Dave Stebbins is right, they cannot revoke the OGL for 3.5 when 4e comes out. And so if 4e is similar to 3.5, much of 4e will already be available as 3.5 OGC.

but things like the Divine content and the Epic content haven't even been updated for 3.5E, which puts some publishers in the very awkward position of having to put out material that they might know to have errors in it.

Um, that's wrong, the SRD material has been updated to 3.5. I'm looking at the files I downloaded at Wizards, and in Divine Ranks and Powers, the deity DR is given as X/Epic. I look at Epic Monsters (G-W), and the Hagunemnon is an Aberration (Shapechanger), and the Ruin Swarm is a Tiny Vermin (Swarm). In Divine Abilities and Feats, Persistent Spell costs a +6 level increase.

But yes, it has been a partially sloppy job with the update. And one file (Divine Domains and Spells) ISN'T properly updated - it is still pre-revision. And I very certain that Andy Smith knows about that. That this has not been fixed is a concern. And had it not been said on GenCon that the SRD will be updated, I'd certainly say updating the SRD has been abandoned.

However the current doomsaying, with some industry people apparently claiming they know that 4th Edition will be released in 1.5 years (supposedly this was said on GenCon by non-Wizards people, while Wizards said the well-known sentence about "No plans, and you'll get plenty warning"), I'm almost tempted to subscribe to a completely different conspiracy theory...

Where can I join?

:D

Cheers!
