We just finished up the Age of Worms campaign and there were 16 permanent PC deaths. Probably another 8-10 that got raised/resurected.
*cheers* Now see THAT'S what I love.

how many of them died in Spire of Long Shadow just out of curiosity?

In my current Greyhawk campaign I've offed...hmm...probably a dozen or so now? Haven't really kept track. Most of the deaths have been at lower levels, but I did whack a 5th level cleric last session. Poor guy was on cleric #4!

Wow, per campaign? Are we talking permanent deaths or any that occur at all? That will make a really big difference. After about level 7+, the PCs rarely have permanent deaths, only those that the body can't be recovered (or is stolen or eaten by a barghest or something - thank you Dragon 350 for the worghest).

So somewhere from 3-10 (permanent) to over 100 (raise-able) deaths.

All of them. Twice.

Seriously, it depends on the campaign and how long it lasts. Last campaign (six players on average, 4 years) it was about 8 PCs -- Edit: that's k-kills requiring a new PC, not counting raises/reincarnates.

I answered 5-6 since that's typically my average. However, I'm running the WLD right now, so my average is a bit off. One party has had five deaths (at level 6 right now), and the other has had five as well, but they're at level 7. I figure both parties will wind up losing a combined total of ~20-25 PCs over the course of the dungeon... but then, it's a brutal dungeon even with the extra eq I'm giving them.
