DMs: What program(s) do you use to track your campaign?

Granted, my current campaign is run in an IRC chat room. As an ongoing experiment I have been using iWeb to maintain a website for the game, including a weekly blog, map gallery, and so on. I have been looking at Journler as a supplement for iWeb.

Masterplan says it is for 4E. Before I download it, how "tied into" 4E is it? ie., can I use it for my Pathfinder game?

Some of its functions, like the combat and skill challenge manager are tied in quite closely, other aspects, like the calender, the glossary or the campaign scripter are not. Given that it takes <10 min to download and test, I would give it a try.

Our group uses a proprietary piece of software codenamed: 'shilsen'. The hardware it runs on is currently in India, but should be back by mid-August after an extended visit with family :).

I tried out Masterplan today and it seems great for 4E, even if it's not totally intuitive. That said, I'll probably still use my Open Office database that I ported over from Access when I got a new computer (sans Access, sadly).

I have a rules wiki (hosted on wikidot) and a forum for campaign and rules discussion. I use Google Documents for campaign notes, Excel to keep track of resources I'm using, and Word for documents that require a more complex layout (handouts, my creature compendium, and such).

I once got very close to creating a D&D rules database; I completed the relational database model design and started working on the interface, when I got side-tracked into other projects. Once I'm done with my extensive d20 rules revision (which may take another year or two), I may go back to that project. My ultimate desire is to have an easy to reference rules database, character generator, and creature builder. Yeah, something like the DDI, but for my own ruleset. Platform of choice is C# (VS.NET)/MS SQL Server (the Express Edition is free and works great).

Obsidian Portal looks great. But I like a wiki that I can download and run from my own computer. For me Tiddlywiki does exactly that. There are plenty of downloadable customization options. Plus it's free.

The setup can be a bit of a pain to get it running the way you want, but once you do you're set.

Excel for all stats, experience, etc., and initiative tracking during combat.

Word for campaign outline, notes, story and running commentary.

PowerPoint and Paint for making cardboard miniatures for monsters and bad guys.

Then I keep them all in a folder on my Desktop, labeled "Campaign".
