D&D 5E DnDBeyond non WotC content video game tie in?

darjr

I crit!
I think this is the first book of content in DNDBEYOND that isn’t WotC content and it’s a video game tie in, Legends of Runeterra.

At first blush this looks good.

The small city guide is super cool, and can be lifted to add a ''pirate city'' in any setting (Orlumbor or Mintarn in FR).

The faction, cult and bestiary is really fun: smokepowder monkey, small shark-rat hunting on the docks, pirate lords etc.

The subclasses are really too wordy and overpowered. The underwater barbarian can teleport at will and make an attack AS A BONUS ACTION every round! It can become immune to charm and fear not just when raging! The themes are cool though.

After a few updates, it can be a real useful supplement.

As for licensing, somewhere from Stormknight said on Reddit that they ask for permission to WotC before approaching DDB.

EDIT: Got confused with another company name. WotC was approached by the DDB's content team and gave its blessing, but I dont know what part Riot (the company making League of Legends) played.

Runeterra sounds very familiar, but I would have do some googling to find out why.

Edit: Okay, it is League of Legends connected. A game I have never had an interest in playing. Here is an article about this:

Th subclasses do not seem to be built into the character builder. If they decide to do that, I hope they allow us to exclude them specifically.

Now. Where is the official Wizards-LoL tie in? Unless they do have plans to announce it? Sometime.
Rolling around in money would be what will happen.

I doubt WotC & Riot will ever directly collaborate - LoR is now seeking to eat MTGA's chunk of the online card market. Still, I'd love to see Runeterra stuff published through the OGL!
