Do Bracers of Striking require an enhancement bonus?

It's not irrelevant that you use Craft Arms and Armor;.

I don't know. I really think it is. Take the Amulet of Mighty Fists. What's it do? Makes your unarmed attacks magical weapons, all the time. What feat do you use to make it? Craft Wondrous Item. So, if Craft Magic Arms and Armor so heavily defines a magic item, then the amulet simply can't exhist, as the wrong feat was used to make it.

Well, I think that Craft A&A could have been used with the Amulet, but it was borderline enough to let go as is. Anyways, I don't believe that the existence of the amulet has any real effect on how the bracers should work. The fact is that Craft A&A were used on the bracers and so they should be dealt with as such.

It does say, "The bracers may be modified with special weapon abilities as if they were a blunt weapon". The "as if it were a blunt weapon" part is ONLY referring to the types of enhancements you can put on it.

Now, how do you know that? If it had said 'may be modified with special weapon abilities as if they were a blunt weapon, without the need for an enhancement bonus', then I would agree with you.

However, a blunt weapon requires an enhancement bonus before gaining any special abilities. Nothing in the bracers' text exempts them from this requirement. Therefore...

But if the Bracers of Striking can't be given actually pluses to attack and damage, then the only purpose for requiring an enhancement bonus before a special weapon ability would be to jack up the price. And yet, the price is already being jacked up, due to the requirement that it be treated as a double-weapon (and thus double-priced.)

I don't think it requires an enhancement bonus, namely because they specifically don't allow bonuses to attack and damage.

Note that it is still cheaper than a double weapon - and, for that matter, far cheaper than an Amulet of Mighty Fists.
