Do monsters die at 0 HP or -10 hp?

As has been said already, if it has a con score it dies at -10, if it lacks con it dies at 0.


Generally what I do is for mooks, I'll roll stabilization only once after they hit negative hp. If they make it they stabilize, if not they bleed to death in the appropriate time. For more important NPCs/Bad guys, I'll roll stabilization once per round as standard, just like PCs do.

And Ottergame, thanks for pointing out my error regarding the PC's condition at zero HP. I re-read the combat chapter in my PHB just to refresh...and you are certainly correct. :)
