Do people vid cap?

DerianCypher

First Post
I finally decided that I want to capture my favorite tv shows (mainly everwood, smallville, stargate and possibly enterprise) to my computer and burn em to DVD.

So, I was wondering.. am I odd or is this a common practice?

I know that some people do this, but most of us who would even consider it (and I have) lack the hardware (TV card, DVD burner), the know-how, and/or the commitment.

I've also seen some vidcaps that are disappointing quality. I think you need digital cable as well, if you want DVD quality.

BTW, Everwood rocks. Best new show of this past season.

I'm seriously considering hacking my Tivo/DirecTV unit to be web-accessable and downloadable so I can burn SVCD copies. I'm told you can even download it in the format you want...

I just saw a review tonight on a tech show about a PC alternative: http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/products/story/0,24330,3439246,00.html ...I couldn't tell you anything about it, but I think it stores everything as mpeg, and so you can burn it to DVD.
