Do these Inspire Courage bonuses stack? (ECS & CAdv)

A sixth-level bard has the Song of the Heart feat from Eberron and casts the Inspirational Boost spell from Complete Adventurer. Is his total Inspire Courage bonus +3 to attacks and damage?

I'd say they stack. They wouldn't if they were giving morale bonuses on their own, but they don't. They each improve the way your Inspire Courage ability works, so I'd say they both apply.

Woah. This PC is gonna rock:)

The old "bone horn" from Song & Silence also improved the bard's inspire courage ability by +1/+1 at the expense of the save bonuses.

Might want to ask your GM about that as well.

That should, in theory, bump it up to +4/+4.

But "even" +3/+3 is major gnarly.

What I tell my 2-handed power attacking friends is to convert all the to hit bonuses into damage, so +3/+3 = +0 to hit, +9 damage (via power attack). Per strike. Really adds up fast.

That's a very significant improvement to damage at no loss of "to hit!"

By the way, each +1 to hit bonus you give members of the party that do ranged/melee combat means, on average, roughly +2 additional points of damage per round (due to attacks that hit that would not have hit before).

Essentially, +3/+3 is increasing your party's damage output (on average, average weapons and strength and etc.) by about 9 per attack per round.

At the end of the day, your bard will doubtlessly be responsible for more damage being dealt than anyone else, hands down. Granted, you won't be inflicting all that damage, but still --

it's a game of teamwork!

Go bards!

Yep, I actually enjoy playing the support role with a bard. It's not for everyone, but there are many times when those bonuses have been very, very useful in a combat.

two, that's an interesting breakdown of how Inspire Courage actually plays out. :) I look forward to contributing all that to my party's effectiveness! The whole teamwork thing gets even better when you consider that my Leadership cohort is an artificer. Whee!

With a Suggestion DC of 21 at sixth level, I'm looking forward to my DM hating me! "These aren't the warforged you're looking for."
