I buy 'em to use in RPG play--never the miniatures skirmish game.

I buy several boosters from each set, and rarely have trouble acquiring specific minis (even the 'big' rares) by trading with other collectors online.

I now have scads of orcs, goblins, skeletons, elves, dwarves, etc.; and look forward to getting even more. In fact, since my group and I have decided not to go the 4e route, D&D Miniatures and Dungeon Tiles are going to be the only Wizards products I still buy.

I used to do the metal-minis thing, but the convenience of pre-painted plastic trumps the randomization frustration (at least for me).

I've only bought a few singles to use in Convention miniatures game (not D&D miniatures rules). I paint my own for my home game, but folks are not always careful with minis at Conventions and they are really ideal for that.

If so, do you use them when playing the RPG or are they only for use with the miniatures game?

For RPG usage.

Do you like their integration into the game even if they are not strictly required?

I started off playing fantasy miniature games, so have always used the for D&D, too.

Heck no. If I'm going to use minis in a game, I'll use cheap ones I got in packs of MageKnight, or I'll use a few hand-painted minis (I just haven't painted them yet....).

I use the minis strictly for the RPG. I also only buy solos in order to get just what i want instead of the random packs. [Most of my minis are not WotC]

I've bought way too many boxes of Desert of Desolation minis.

I GM Savage Worlds and use the D&D minis for that, using them for my Dungeons & Savages conversions and RunePunk. I've found a few that I thought I would never use and have been able to use those in adventures I've cooked up.

Storage is fairly easy. I saw a guy at StellarCon use the Sterilite containers (the ones that hold 8 X 11 paper) to transport his Star Wars minis and stole that idea for myself. Keeping them sorted is a different issue.

I don't play the minis game, so I have stacks and stacks of stat cards I don't use. Should I decide to sell some of the minis, it's gonna be a treasure hunt to find the matching cards.

Not sure how to answer. I have a couple dozen, but they were all picked up second-hand and only ever used for RPGs. I *despise* the intentional-scarcity model, and I think that people that buy them randomly are suckers.

Never. I just don't have the time, money, or inclination to do minis along with everything else. I'll use other people's minis if I'm running a game and they want them, but mostly I'd be fine with using change marked with sharpies to display on mats.
