I like elves a lot, but recently I found my love for dwarves again. My first character was a dwarven fighter 12 years ago. Besides that I like to play the cat and lion races of my setting.

I was referring to this.

Humans, humans, humans. I played them back in 2E, when they got jack. Humans are, hands down, the coolest race in D&D. They represent the everyman. They're the leaders, and it's nice to be playing a good human instead of the mediocre-to-bad people who really exist.

Geeze, now I feel a bit perverted or something, being the first person to fess-up to playing Halfings

Could be worse I suppose, I could have been the first person to confess to Gnome-playing :p

I play humans because (usually) they represent the majority of the populous for all the races. After all, *someone* needs to play the majority.

If we're planning on a long term campaign, I almost always go for human. Maybe in a one shot, or short-term campaign, I'll do something different. But, there are 6 billion people in the world, and countless other historical figures to choose from, so you have a ton of choices for a human. With other races, your role-playing options are more limited - elves and dwarves are usually played a particular way (aloof & nature loving / gruff & greedy).

Munchkin Humans

I run into the problem of everyone wanting to be human to get the extra feat as well as skill points. That and most players don't want to have any weaknesses associated with changing ability scores (like elves -2 Con). So I will change things around in my next campaign to get some more variety.
