Do you follow any PbP games?

Many of the story hours here on the boards have gained quite a few followers. I'm curious to know if anyone follows any PbP games in the same way. I am currently running one here. I pop in on some others from time to time and see some cool stuff, but I don't keep up religiously on any.

What about you?

I started running one a little while back, and I read big chunks of several different PbPs for research into how I wanted to approach mine. I can see dropping back in to get inspiration and ideas, but not following someone else's PbP game regularly -- I''d rather read the Story Hour of that PbP. ;)

I don't regularly pay attention to the others. Back when there were only a few, I sometimes hopped over and looked at the Non-Iconics... but with there being so many now, I find it hard to keep track of them all.

So I just pay attention to the ones I'm running and the ones I'm in.

So, what is it that appeals to you about the Story Hours instead of the actual PbP game? Is it that it reads more like a novel than a transcript of someone's game session?

Pretty much. Whether the SH's style is novel-like or more campaign log-y, it's still likely to be easier to sit down and read just by virtue of being less spread out, with more material concentrated into fewer posts. Hopefully that makes sense.

I tried to follow some in the beginning, but unless I've got a good reason (such as being a judge for a Living Enworld adventure), I usually don't.

Yeah, I see what you're saying.

I started thinking about this when I was looking at the number of views on my own game and wondering how many were from people not involved in the game peeking in. I also see a lot of links to people's games in sigs and wondered if anyone ever actually followed those links.

I read most of the M&M PbP:s (and also play in two of them). Most of them are really good, and I'm not expecting the GM:s to storyhourize them anytime soon. (Though if you're a fan of Epic M&M, Dalamar is working on turning it into what I guess will be a webcomic. Whee!)

As for the links in my sig, they're for me. If I lose track of the threads, I post something witty and get links to them. If someone gets interested, that's just a bonus. ;)
