Do you believe that classes are meaningful in terms of the fusion of lore and crunch?

I've ignored the rest of the thread because I know it's all just @lowkey13 hiding his true feelings. I think they doth protest too much.

But, when it comes to class, the only answer is Sir McStabsalot riding on his holy mastiff.

We should have a thread on archetype.
Actually archetype have more impact than class.
Warlock patron, paladin oath, cleric domain have more flavor than the base class,
Archetype drive all new addition to classes. Cool for new material, but adding new class will be more difficult.
 



My preference is that your class should be as much about who you are as what you do. Obviously it is not all that you are, but a Fighter and a Barbarian should have a different mentality and way of seeing the world. I would like that to be reflected in the mechanics.
 


Classes are arbitrary components of a system of asymmetric power relationships in which the spellcasting Bourgeoisie exploit the surplus hit points of the hard-fighting Proletariat, expropriating experience points to expand their own power at the expense of those who actually earn them.
