D&D 5E Do you miss attribute minimums/maximums?

Do mean MoonSong?

Yeah, my bad - I meant to go back and check the name, but forgot in my eager search for the Hygiene guide
Good luck with the tax treatise! I too am in that field.

Sadras , what I wanted to say was that regardless of intentions, symbols can communicate unintended messages depending on the context. No matter how balanced, having sex dependent pluses and minuses causes an unintended message and it isn't a nice one. 'Men are (physically) stronger' is an obvious difference, any possible differences in favor of women aren't that obvious, risk stereotyping, and can be quite offensive or off-putting. Even though it is an unintended message, it is a perceived message, and not a nice and inviting one. I wasn't trying to imply you yourself thought this, sorry for that. (Talk about being self demonstrating n_n)

I myself am not that concerned with being PC, but there is a clear divide between not caring if you risk offending people and doing something you are sure will offend people. This is a game that you can only win by not playing. It isn't worth it.

I understand. We gamers are a mixed bunch, who can't agree on editions and even when we do, we disagree on mechanics, the desired level of magic in a campaign, gods, settings or other. Throw in desires for RL simulation and we split in further. As far as I can see, that is what we have here in this thread, no one is seeking to offend anyone.

It was some time ago when one of Enworld's posters did an actual comparison between physical feats performed in-game (running speed, jumping distance of height and length, carrying capacity...etc) using maximum stats to RL olympic records. That is the level of granuality some gamers go to. We're a bunch who have too much time on our hands!
Me, I just want to fix my weapons and armour table and stop procrastinating ;)

I would argue that a 20 strength woman (just like a halfling stronger than an half-orc) is a corner case, not something so common that you'd need to worry about it. And even if it was common, players play individuals not platonic archetypes.

I agree with you, the halfling/women STR 20 are likely corner cases and possibly won't even be seen at my table. Sadly no female players at my fixed table and our resident halfling is a sorcerer. I have another table with 3 ladies and 1 guy but it is very irregular.

The average untrained man can squat 125 pounds. The average untrained woman can squat 59 pounds. Google is fun.

Oh, and feel free to try and tear simulationists to shreds. I'm not arguing for simulation. I'm currently discussing real world facts. ;)

See, my problem is I thought of a funner way was to get the difference between a critter at 20 strength (Polar Bear) and compare it to one at 19th strength, and put the exact limit there for how much a strength point is worth and figure it out backwards mathematically :p

But it turns out I can't find any living critters with 19 strength and I don't think anyone's done anything on the pulling power of non-avian Dinosaurs so I can't use the Allosaurus

I had my PCs experience a wave of power which washed over them, unlocking their ability to increase their stats above 18.

So the party defeated a beholder who was continuously feeding off undead that had been reanimated by Myrkul's divine essence which had been scattered over The Mere of the Dead Men when he died. The death of the beholder brought about a release of the dead deity's consolidated energy which washed over the party, unclocking the potential for 19-20 ability scores.

Thank you. Now I have some ideas I wouldn't have thought without this discussion.
However, that's also a bad thing. I'll create my own RPG system and now I'll have to deal with my friends if I ever want to use them.
How I make my brain stop working?

Okay. Given the current imbalance between males and females in this game, I'd like to know how all of you who are so against inferiority of sexes corrected that imbalance. Currently, females can have all the same stats, be the same classes, have all the same racial abilities, and use the same items as males, yet only female PCs can have babies and produce milk. That blatantly sexist imbalance makes males in D&D inferior.

What did you do to fix that sexist imbalance? I suggest +2 to strength for males or -2 for females, but I'm open to ideas on how to correct this issue.
I keep a treasury of many posts that made me face-palm.

So long as you note that it wasn't serious.
I don't know if you've noticed - but where at the point where clicking not-totally-serious XP on a post which we thought was not-totally-serious will lead to overwrought, hand-wringing, condescending expressions of personal disappointment.

(And yes, even with full knowledge re: sarcasm, it was still a really bad post.)
