I have 5th edition and have for a few months. I'm playing in an FTF game where I only have a companion character so far, but I just finished up my first magus last weekend. He seems appallingly weak based on what little I know about the system, but this is something of a learning experience. We'll see.

5e is an awesome book, and the supplemtns have been fantyastic. I just wish I could play the darn game....
Me too....

...that's why I'm trying to set up a PbP, which led to this thread. A friend of mine (a historian specializing in Germany, no less) will soon SG a FtF game, but only in a month or two... :\

None of the above. I own 3rd edition ArM, and the succeeding two editions have been a definite downslide from it.
I'm curious, why do you find 3e superior to 5e? I've found every edition an improvement, but I can understand why 4e would be considered Not A Good Idea; I'm much more enamored with 5e, though, and can't see anything 3e does better except the simpler (but more arbitrary) magic system.

1st Ed -
Don't own. Haven't played. Have seen a copy though...

2nd Ed -
Own. Bought the revised version (I think) when it came out, and fell in love with the system. Could not get any of my friends to play though... Have a good deal of the supplements for this ed.

3rd Ed -
Own. Found a fantastic group when I lived in NYC, and played in a terrific campaign. Own most of the supplements for this version (this is my least favorite edition of the game though).

4th Ed -
Own. Played in a fun game that I started up here in Seattle. Own about half of the supplements.

5th Ed -
Own. Am currently in a group that plays about once a month. Own all supplements that have been released to date (all three of them)! For the most part this is my favorite edition. I am not sure that I like how they changed Parma though...

Ars Magica

I think I own 3E. It's a pretty good magic system, attached to a reasonable RPG. Unlike some of the posters below, I don't think it's the best magic system ever. My favorites are MAGE and 5th age.

I'm wondering how many ENWorlders own Ars Magica. Do you own 4e? 5e? Would you be willing to purchase either to participate in a game? How about downloading it for free?

[shameful plug]This poll is motivated by the lack of interest in my PbP. Feel free to change these circumstances.[/shameful plug]

I own the free legal download currently. I have owned Ars Magica 3 (the White Wolf version) and IIRC Ars Magica 4 as well -- I think I had a supplement at one time too -- I don't remember what

No one I know has enough interest in playing or running the game to make it worth picking up. The last couple attemptsI have made to run or play made failed before the game started. I also dislike the "Judeo/Christo/Islamic" cosmology and 13th century Europe as a setting

I would play a face to face game f I had the time and a game was offered though. No PBP though sorry . I tried its cousin -- D&D on the Pyramoo -- I didn't enjoy it
