I own a grand total of 1 fantasy mini, a reaper wizardess which I'm using in a friend's game. Everyone else has their own, so I figured I should get one too.

Other than that, I own two Battletech minis (a Vulture [Mad Dog], and a Thunderhawk).

Any more minis I purchase will be metals.

I get almost all of my minis out of board game sets, like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars Monopoly sets, and almost all of them are metal.

I still use metal minis, and I refuse to buy plastic ones! To me painting is half the fun, so the prepainted D&D ones aren't right for me! Besides, I like the sculpting and variety of Reaper miniatures, so I remain loyal to Reaper!

I'm as lazy as they come. My 1/2 orc barbarian/druid is represented by the free Hulk Heroclix that I got at the local comic shop when the movie came out :heh:

I used to years ago, but no more. I use Firey Dragon counters almost exclusively. I have some D&D plastic minis and some remounted Heroclix/Mage Knight stuff I might use at some point, though.

I don't buy metal or plastic miniatures lately, more because of monetary constraints than preference, though. I've only bought plastic minis once - the WotC ones (a set of GoL and one of Abberations, I think). I probably have two or three hundred metal miniatures, ranging in size from a toad familiar to great wyrm black dragon.

That said, I was at my FLGS today and was looking at the metal minis, and cost wasn't the only thing that kept me from getting some really cool Reaper minis. All my paints are dry now, and I didn't have enough to begin with, and frankly, I just don't feel like painting them. I don't have the time to design adventures, much less paint minis. The paint job on the WotC minis is as good as a most of my paint jobs and a lot less hassle. They're cheaper, too, despite the randomization.

I'm not against metal minis per se, but I think I'll buy mostly random plastic minis from now on.
