D&D (2024) Do you think they will add more races to PHB2024 to make up for dropping other stuff?

Existing players will have access to the half-elf and half-orc via their existing books, and they will be options in the SRD so everyone will still have them on DDB... so the options aren't being removed from the game. In comparison, there will still be the variant human option in DDB and in existing books we already have, even if it isn't in the PH2024.

There isn't a person who wants access who won't have free access. It doesn't need to be in the 2024 book and it isn't a betrayal for it to be removed.

And it will lag behind and be increasingly forgotten as 2024 takes the position of 'first amongst equals' in the eyes of the community.

I'm sure this goes without saying, but there it is anyway.

I save my spite for my other forums/hobbies, or Wizards in general. The very personal/DYI nature of D&D, and the very very low bar to meet (simply dont remove it) says Wizards is just not really making a good choice here.

I have no spite for those players. I can relate, I did not get what I wanted either. I have no problem with the races staying.

Someone said ‘I don’t care, we do not need this’ to things I wanted. This is not really any different, except that they did not actually lose anything, it is just not getting reprinted in the same form

There is no spite, I simply do not care either way, and consider this a smaller loss than mine, because ultimately they still very much have those races, they are just not in the 2024 PHB.

There are threads on this forum alone, with people saying 'please dont take away what I feel is representative of me'.

which is what, a Half-Elf or Half-Orc? They are not taking those away, how they are represented is changing, and on top of that you can just stick with the 2014 version.

Seems a low hanging fruit not to ruin that, but oh well.

agreed, it would have been, there are low hanging fruits that still do not get plucked, like the stuff that got 70% and Mr. Crawford in his infinite wisdom decided to dump anyway. Disappointment all around.

hey, if they can get them into the 2024 books, great, at a minimum they have something to fall back on. That is all I am saying

yeah, I am strongly leaning towards homebrewing at this point, but who knows maybe ToV or C7D20 can stand on its own and I can dump the travesty that is PHB 2024 altogether

Oh wow, now I'm interested in seeing that passage of the SCAG book.

Ittrslly pretty similar to @CleverNickName post above: just an off-hand comment that you could play a Tiefling from Mulaholerand and have a cat head because of claiming Descent from Isis, or a croc from Sobek, a falcon from Horus, or whatever. Purely as flavor.

They could have animal heads if they are descended from certain Archons (Warden, Hound and Stag) or from a Guardinal.

I've been saying Aasimar and Genasi, the other two major planetouched races should be core for ages now, but goodness forbid the PHB gets a none emo Planetouched race.

Level Up has it where the Planetouched are one of the core heritages in it's PHB. It covers the Aasimar and Tieflings at the moment. But there will be a Gate Pass Gazette article that will be adding the Genasi to this particular heritage.
