Do you use minis?

I guess the main jist of the question was whether or not people use markers (miniatures or otherwise) or if they leave it to the imagination. Yeah, I should have had a "i use a combination" option, but too late now.

wow, that option didn't even occur to me!

Anyways, i prefer simplicity in polls over complete accuracy, so just pick whatever you use MOST. So, if you have 100 prepainted minis and 5 ones you painted yourself, just put "prepainted minis".

I'm really surprised how many people use minis.

Well, I use minis that are prepainted, but I didn't buy any of them . My uncle and my dad gave me over 200 minis easily and I keep getting WoTC plastic minis for birthday and christmas.

I buy prepainted minis, in the past I bought mini's and let talented friends paint them for me, but I don't use them in game. I tried it before and never liked it. If I want to move minis around the a board I'll play Hero Quest of something. It is the emphesis on minis use during play(among other things) that got me to stop playing D&D completely.

I buy and use prepainted minis.

I buy and use bunches of dice to substitute for monsters.

My current gaming group doesn't use miniatures at all. The last group used them solely for determining party order (who was in back, who was scouting ahead, etc.). The group before that didn't use them at all in RPGs, except when we were wargaming. Way back then, we painted our own minis, with varying degrees of competency.

To clarify:

I use figures that I paid others to paint for me for my own characters most often. (I have paid others to paint because I have no time, plus, they are really, Really REALLY good.)

I own more prepainted figures than anything else.

I use dice for monsters most of the time. Because, you can't own hordes of figures for every type of monster... A least I can't...

Needed to be able to select more than one choice here! I paint minis when I have some time, buy pre-painted minis (which are used most often) and have been known to use dice as monsters when I have nothing even close to what is called for in the encounter.

I use counters.

I buy prepainted ones.

I use dice and m&ms.

Yeah. Being able to choose multiple options would have had me picking the top three instead of just the top one.
