Doctor Who 28.9 The Satan Pit [spoilers]

I also really enjoyed the way Rose took charge when all the station personnel were on the verge of panicking. That's an interesting development.

I can't say it was a say it was a terribly surprising development, as Rose's "pert little chit" routine is beginning to cloy a bit. Guess she needs tomething to do though. I suppose she's basically a Charismatic Hero who contributes by acting plucky all the time.

All in all a great episode, with the doctor exploring and investigating instead of just running away until the third act climax.

I enjoyed it now I've finally seen it. It was good to see some use made of Rose rather than the traditional have the Doctor explain stuff to companion/stand in corner screaming. The cgi was pretty good and it was nice to avoid the David Tennant shouty bit that most of his other episodes have featured.

I thought the Torchwood mention was a bit poor though, and I'm guessing that next weeks episode might involve the Torchwood crew (whoever they are) fully, as it appears that the Doctor and Rose are wanted by the authorities.

Apparently the Torchwood stuff is going to come to a head in the two-part season finale - as a lead in to the Torchwood series.

I'm just hoping that the prophecy of Rose dying is true. Overall this is how I like my Doctor Who. Impossible planets orbiting black holes with Satanic demons trapped in a pit. Historicals week after week get boring. Too bad this show is so uneven. For every Impossible Planet or Doctor Dances you get a Boomtown or a Rise of the Cybermen 2 parter. Oh well at least when it's good it's damn good.
