DoD Preview 9... mostly stale, w/ one nugget

I would have liked to have at least one Archon of each elemental type in the first MM.
That's somewhat annoying.

However, it does mention that there are only two elemental archons in the MM: fire and ice. So we'll have to wait a bit for earth, air, and water archons.

Do we even know for sure if there are going to be earth, air, or water archons? Remember, 4E is moving away from guaranteed parallelism. Just because there are archons of some elements doesn't mean there'll necessarily be archons of all elements, if the backstory doesn't require them.

(Note: This is not a subtle hint. I honestly don't know.)

Air Elementals were always a little weird. It's a monster...of air. The same stuff you're surrounded by now, are freely moving through without a thought...but you can just go over and hit it...

Though I imagine we'll certainly see creatures made wholly of water and earth, they're just too common an archetype in fantasy.

Oh, I'm sure we'll see creatures of air, earth, and water. I just don't know if we'll see archons (which are a specific type of elemental creature).

One thing I noticed that I thought strange - the Ice Archon is Evil. Had we known previously that Archons (or only Ice Archons perhaps?) are Evil? I would have thought they would be unaligned, given their whole "mercenary willingness to fight for whatever" trope.

They probably dislike mortals enough to freeze 'em alive given the chance. Grand designs of turning the minions of the gods into Popsicles and what not. Maybe they are Jealous of races that breed normally and the ice archons are notorious child-slayers.

Pick whatever reason you like best, but what matters is every one of them that gets killed makes the multiverse a better place.

Dunno, but the Worlds & Monsters gallery has pics of what I'm fairly sure are air, earth and water archons. (Though I'm not sure if there are separate ice and water archons necessarily...)
