RPG Print News – Columbia Games, Raging Swan, WizKids, and More

Finding treasures like the giant mimic mini for Dungeons & Dragons is one of the great reasons to be a gamer. There is also a modest Lovecraft adventure for D&D as well as a massive 1400 page setting with augmented rules. There is plenty of support for OSR games, locations for HarnWorld, and extras like cards and miniature docks for fantasy RPGs. There is also one sci-fi adventure and an RPG based on a Netflix show.

It's funny the different values we place on items.

My first thought on seeing the docks was "Wow, that's overpriced!", but I guess I don't place much value on the pre-painted stuff, even more so now that I have a 3D resin printer.
3D printing is something I’d love to have, but it’s just not going to happen. In the meantime, I back reaper mini kickstarters, browse Etsy, and get wizkids minis on occasion.

I was so so so excited for the spelljammer ships, then I saw the price. Now I’m torn. We’ll see- if people start making cool 3D prints of ships, maybe I’ll be able to buy some of those. Otherwise, I might actually shell out the cash to wizkids.

3D printing was what finally broke my miniature/terrain habit, cold turkey. Can't justify it when I could print it later.

Of course now I collect digital models for printing (that I often never use and sometimes forget I have), but at least they take up less space!

I feel like I'm being honest if I say it was never about plastic "minis" for me.
I did like the old lead miniatures, but it was never that important.

It isn't about plastic minis. As I wrote, it is an outhouse mimic. That thing looks amazing. And it is ridiculous. Both things at the same time. That is an outstanding achievement whether the work is plastic or metal. Absurd and deadly.

I'm not getting it, its a complex mini to create from a technical perspective?
I can't speak for him, but in my opinion it's a fantastic achievement because it's silly and nostalgic at the same time. 30 years ago, this thing would not.... could not have been produced. That it exists now is awesome.

It's the sort of thing a long time D&D player would immediately understand, but would be a little WTF to an outsider. So when I see it and chuckle, I feel like I'm part of a club. Also, it's childish humor, which I still love... So it just "hits" in all the right ways for me.

Challenging moderation
That was thoroughly unnecessary. Knock it off, please.
? I mean he is literally sticking his nose in the air saying only "long term dnd players would understand". Well I'm a long term dnd player and I don't understand the fascination for plastic minis. No offense intended.
