Doe, a deer, a female deer...

This morning I woke up to my dog barking her head off outside. I couldn't get her to shut up by lying in bed and yelling at her, so I was forced to get up.

I opened the front door to find the local animal control and two police officers standing on my front lawn. So I'm thinking, "My dog's going to jail."

But no! They are all pointing to the right of me! I look over and there's a deer in my flowerbed, right next to me, munching away.

The police were trying to get Fish and Game to come and get the deer, but Fish and Game told them that the deer got into town, it could get itself outa town.

So the police get tired of watching the deer eat my dead flowers and living weeds (this went on for a bit), and it shows no signs of being afraid of the small neighborhood crowd gathering on my lawn, so the police officers decide that they want to pet it.

Anyway, it must have been somebody's pet (Yes, in Idaho we have deer for pets... or wolves, or even buffalo...) because it lets everyone come over and pet it. So the police decide to walk it out of town.

End of story. I assume they made it. :)

Oh how sweet. I want a deer for a pet now.

My dog (a Jack Russell, bred to be a hunter of other animals) would be terrified of it, as he is terrified of cats, small dogs, rats, bunnies and pretty much everything else...

I find it funny that in Idaho, it gets nicely walked out of town to frolic in the fields.
In the midwest states,(specifiacally, Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota.... at least in my experience) it would have been escourted out of town alright .... so that some one could shoot it.

We have a great park in the middle of my town. Its has a fenced off part that holds a few deer that the animal preservation people saved. Every year some dumb ass has to go and shoot all of them. They are in a cage, and they get shot. Its like some sick prank.....
I am not big on hunting but at least you can say something for a guy that hunts down his prey and waits, as opposed to stupid head who shoots the deer in a cage..... It ENRAGES ME..............

Why am I suddenly reminded of this line from the end of a Bob Rivers song???

"Uhm, pay no attention to that tressapassers will be shot on sight sign Santa - that don't apply to you. Nice rack on Blitzin though" :sound of a gun cocking:

i am a deer hunter (i do it the hard way, i ground hunt with a short barrel pistol).

speaking for my little circle, hunting deer in a cage is twisted and irresponsible turd brained insanity.

i am a gamer who likes gamers. i am an artist who likes artists, i am a hunter who is emberassed by hunters.....

Hey, another Idahoan!

You know, in the spirit of those in the state, you should've pulled out a gun and shot Bambi between the eyes. That meat could keep you fed for quite some time. Not as good as Elk meat, but I'd take it.

Yeah, it was the first live deer to visit my house. :D

I dated a serious hunter for about 3 yrs. He was in to all sorts of hunting but his favorite was hunting deer with a bow. I gained a certian amount of repect for hunters while dating him. I learned all about the sport of it and they ate the meat that they shot. I am all in favor of hunting deer. It helps with the population and makes it so I will have less chance of hitting them with my car! :)

I just hate that they kill the animals in a cage. Its so sad! :(

Careful. Sometimes they seek vengeance.
