Does a Shadowdancer's summoned shadow count as a shadow for hide in plain sight?

You only have to be within 10 feet of the shadow, and a shadow has to touch you to drain, not the other way around.

That's not the normal way I read "her own shadow," but it kind of makes sense.

I don't think Shadow Dancers get drained by their own Shadow.

As far as your question is concerned, yes and no.

The Shadow (capital letters) is a creature, not a random area of darkness.

On the other hand, if your Shadow casts a shadow (lower case), you could use that (just as you could use the shadow of any other companion).

So the question is, does a Shadow cast a shadow? :)
