D&D 4E Does anyone agree with me about 4E?

Hmm...we need a short, succinct way of expressing this idea. I suggest WrongFunBad.

See, now you -know- that I prefer FunWrongBad, because I've stated such in four or five other threads and you obviously are familiar with all of my posts because my posts are the best thing this community's got going for it.

So, this makes three times out of three that you've disagreed with me. This clearly cannot speak to such things as my intellectual inferiority, my inability to form well-constructed and well-researched viewpoints, or my haste to cry foul at what I perceive to be the malicious intent of those designing fourth edition D&D. It can only because you don't like me.

You have a personal grudge against me which you've formed for reasons that I cannot fathom (even though my downright nasty demeanour could always qualify as the first hint), and now you are expressing your distaste by repeatedly voicing disagreement with my opinions. Which is all it is ... disagreement with my opinions, not an opinion of your own, since I am the only person capable of forming an opinion and all other viewpoints voiced are either objection to or accordance with my opinions.

There are five or six such people in this community, and now I'm finding myself convinced that there is a 'clique' of you here that have been brought together by your dislike of me. I know you're over there exchanging private messages about me and conspiring to remove me from the boards through a campaign of public slander. I notice that none of you have bothered to send a private message to me to work out our differences, because deep down you realize that you are in the wrong. Never mind the fact that I've never sent a private message to any of you. -You- are ganging up on -me- so the onus is on you!

Know that if this behavior does not stop I am going to leave these message boards forever, decrying you all for forcing me away through your campaign of public slander!

....

What were we debating again?

As I have just joined ENWorld in outrage in order to post on this thread, I will make the assumption that everyone is hearing the redundant talking points I am about to make for the first time. I will proceed to post a lengthy rant that restates much of the information from the last eight pages of this thread, none of which I have read.

I will conclude by declaring that I'm done with D&D forever. Following a sarcastic comment thanking WotC for alienating me, I will append the following list of games I will play instead of 4e: GURPS, Iron Heroes, Ars Magica, True 20, checkers, Marco Polo, Texas Hold 'Em, Mutants & Masterminds, Chutes & Ladders, tic-tac-toe, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, and GURPS (again).

Did you read that new blog from the game development team at Wizards of the Coast? That particular developer posted a particular blog that more or less sums up my opinions on 4th Edition.

I am curious about what everyone else thought about the blog posting. Well, not really. Honestly, I am only posting so that everyone who agrees with me can rally around me and make me feel good about myself. Opinions that differ from my own will be mocked, debated, or ignored.

So what did everyone think about that one blog about that thing that I like?

That blog clearly shows that the designers are turning D&D into a MMORG/tactical wargame, and have fired me as a customer. I don't know where they get off even considering putting new ideas in D&D. What I claim to want is the very same things that were in the last edition, presumable with some new artwork (but nothing too anime!) and a nice shiny cover.

The artwork for the new edition is clearly too anime! I'd rather that the new edition's artwork look like that stylized animation from Japan. What's that stuff called again?

I'd like to make broad, sweeping attacks against you; but I'll immunize myself from criticism by adding a 'Humor' tag to the thread.

I will now post to a thread thats entire purpose is to set up strawmen to be knocked down by people who want to feel smug about their own obvious superiority. ;)

I express disgust that the designers are posting notes in their ...ugh...Gleemax blogs and boards, despite those being the official D&D boards. I would prefer they email me directly with each and every detail, so that I may give them my deep, insightful feedback.

You know, stuff like:

"That's too video-gamey!",

"We've been doing that IMC since 1973!" , and

"Warlord is a stupid name. You should call it fendersnipper, which clearly reflects the mechanics of the class better, despite the fact that I have not even seen the mechanics of the class yet."

Hi.

I don't know you. I don't care about you. I don't care about your opinions. I'm just going to make a response to your statement that won't really mean all that much to you ... but which will actually be a veiled insult directed at Fifth Element. When he reads my post (he reads all my posts), he'll pick up the insult easily. But by couching this blatant flame in a harmless answer to one of -your- posts, I will immunize myself against being accused of flaming.

You don't mind if I use you like a prostitute to further my ongoing war with Fifth Element, do you? I didn't think so.

Say ... you aren't in Fifth Element's clique, are you? Maybe you would consider joining my clique, the righteous clique, which holds itself superior to such things as sacrificing individuality for the hollow affirmation offered by a group? No? Ok, that's cool. If you know any 4e haters whose opinions are pliable, please send them to me. Thanks!
