Does anyone else hate having their photo taken?

*tearing hair out in frustration*

GAH!! What is with all these people who hate having photos taken?! You DO realize why compulsive photo takers like myself do this, right?! Often the people who want your photo are people who like you! Whether you look perfect or not!

I mean, obviously when you're old and grey with only a game of solitare to keep you company in the old folk's home you'll wish you had those slices of memory to hold on to. I happen to like collecting memories and it makes me crazy when people I like and want to keep with me refuse to let me take a photo.

Even if you don't like photos, maybe the photo takers do. And maybe they just want to remember things a little better than a slippery mind allows.

You ninnies.

I despise having my photo taken, whether professional or not. I also hate taking photos.

Probably the worst purchase that I made in the last two years was buying a camera phone (it was "cool" and "new" and "imasucker")...

Yes, a lot of people like to remember through photos. I don't. I get absolutely nothing
from looking at photos. A kewl photo is a kewl photo, but only in the artistic sense.

Emotional connections? Not so much.

For me it's stuff. I get all emotional and remember-y with stuff. Things.

As for the compulsive photo-takers, I have no sympathy. You make me feel awkward.
I hate feeling awkward. I'm not an awkward guy! I don't do awkward! Damn you! Evil!

And why are you making people pose, anyway? Photos are always better when capturing
the moment!

You twits!

I can't stand to have my picture taken or a video camera on me. For this reason, I clutch the camera tightly during holiday events so as to stay out of the photo ops.

When I worked at a Ren Faire waaaay long time ago, my favorite trick to 'vanish' during the patron's 'snapping of the pictures' was to yell "SPANISH CANNON!" and hit the ground, covering my face.

I'm glad you said it before I did. I love taking photos, and I simply don't understand how getting one's picture taken can be so painful for some people. Of the women I've liked, only two enjoy getting their photos taken (and I have dozens of photos of them). The others, the only photos I have of them typically involve them cringing or cowering, because they're afraid. I . . . I just don't understand.

One of my friends calls it "gettin' Heisenberg." Every time someone witnesses you, or a picture of you, you become more real, more defined. Maybe some people just don't want to be pinned down to a single existence.

For me it's really just a question of "Why would my friends be made that uncomfortable by something I'm doing for the sake of nostalgia?" I mean, I'd be willing to do a lot of things that might make me uncomfortable so long as it was for my friends. You know. At least something as simple and harmless as a photo. Or singing at a party. Or going to a party. Surely I can have enough trust in the people asking to know it's not out of some kind of malice or complete lack of concern for how it may affect me.

I'd pose on a photo for a friend at occasions warranting so. Special occasions.

In fact, in most cases I will pose if asked.

But I will let my disapproval be heard if this is happening again and again and again.
I may ask what compells a friend to make me suffer so repeatedly for his amusement?

I'm not fond of getting my picture taken, but not because me being in a picture or something. The flash hurts my eyes and blinds me for a really long time and sometimes makes my knees buckle. That's dangerous while skateboarding, dancing, crossing the street or trying to drink anything through a straw whether standing up or sitting.

I don't mind my photo being taken, I like it. Nothing wrong with having a picture taken.

I, however end up looking smug or like a psycho when trying to smile.
