Does anyone here even play Darksun?

I ran a few Dark Sun games back when it first came out - I really like the idea if a post-apocalyptic fantasy setting, and the fact that everyone is psionic.

I ran the Freedom adventure for my guys. I really liked it, my players sort of dug it, but Athas was too harsh and deadly for their tastes. :D

I'm nott to crazy about Athas.org's conversion - some races are overpowered for my tastes, and I don't agree with the way some of the classes converted over. But, I'd pick it up in a hot second if someone bought the liscense and released an "official" 3e version.

Dark Sun was the only thing I *didn't* skip about 2e.

I'm a CyberPunk kind of guy. I dig a deadly, unforgiving setting. Dark Sun is such a setting. Although I had to convert the whole thing over to OD&D, we all loved it.

i played darksun alot back in the day, and i converted alot of stuff for 3rd ed. then i found athas.org lots of great conversions, i use athas 3rd ed as a future of FRCS, its worked pretty well, but have not been able to play for a while, my brother was one of the players and he moved back home to mommy!

i would love a full color print copie of the setting for 3rd ed. so if someone out thier sees this......you have one hopeful follower.

*planescape too!!!!

The playtest rules at www.athas.org seem workable already. It's not printed out, but a few hours of the boss not looking could fix that. :)

They are the official site, and their stuff is really really tight knit so far. Including ECL for Thri-Kreen and Half-Giants (I remember they really needed that in the 2e game I played). And now with 3e psionics working within the established mechanics of the rule set, I'd love to play.

But my group came into contact with another group who'd been playing for 11 years or so in a home brew world run almost completely by the same DM and thus had days and days of old war stories and history... This enchanted them so much that they immediately began desiging their own world and now any game that doesn't advance the story or build the background of it is seen as a waste of time.

Me personally, I'd love to play in the hugely developed worlds of Faerun or Athas. It'd take a lot of the work out of DM'ing for me and add a lot of credibility and believability to plot hooks and twists. :)

I would have to say in the hands of a great DM, it could be a great rpg experience. I played it for about a year (about 20 sessions) and it had it's ups and down. Some of my best memories came from that campaign. My half giant was one tough mutha.

Thanx Guys

Thankyou everyone whom has responded to this message. I was beginning to think I was the only one whom cared about the game world. I truely hope the powers that be see these responses and reconsider publishing it. I know it wouldn't been right, but If I had known about that create a world contest I would have created a very familiar desert psionic world with a history largelt forgotten or mislead by the populance. Knowledge is power in Darksun.

So until
Dregoth wins a bueaty contest
Abech-Re becomes stable
Hamanu becomes a good guy...oh yeah...he did

Seeya!!!!
