does smite's damage get multiplied by crits?

Pretty much any damage that isn't rolled on a seperate, additional damage die (such as sneak attack or the fire damage from a flaming weapon) is multiplied on a crit.

Indeed, unless stated otherwise in the specific rules of the special ability, Sejs is correct.

Which grants my lare-sized, greast-sword wielding minotaur paladin in my current Dawnforge game--with smite, Power Attack, and Improved Critical--an absolutely obscene damage potential under the proper circumstances. I'm not normally a power-gamer, but I'd be lying if I said that doing over 100 hp of damage in one shot didn't feel darn good. ;)

Yep.

And here are some add-ons. Mix and match at will.

1. Divine Might's charisma bonus to damage stacks on a crit too.

2. Take a level of monk. Stunning fist scales with character (not class) level. Use a Ki-Striking lance. Stunning charging smites are your friend.

3. Take a level of cleric. In Forgotten Realms the relevant diety would be Tyr. Take the Retribution domain. Now anyone who hurts you in combat is subject to a charging, critting, smiting *max damage* multiple-die smack in the teeth.

4. Templar. Weapon specialization is a really nice extra; two bonus feats doesn't hurt either, plus you gain a faster smite progression, and it stacks with your paladin levels (watch out, though: Ride is not a templar class skill. That really hurts if you're a mounted warrior variant. Best to get your ride skill on before you multiclass to templar).

5. Cavalier. X4 damage on a divine might, smiting charge. Fun for the whole family.

6. True Strike. This allows you to use Power Attack to backload your entire base attack bonus, which also multiplies on the crit. Yum.

best,
