Does this work?

True, but with two weapon penalties.

Or else the 4 feats (Ambidex, 2 Weapon Fighting, Weapon Focus & Monkey Grip) I'd need to get to wield them both together effectively would be quite a long time in the obtaining!

Off-hand penalties are granted: -4 to attack unless you have Ambidexterity, and in any case only half Str bonus to damage.

Two-weapon fighting penalties (-4 to attack or -2 if you use a light weapon insead of longsword) still keep me insecure...

To make an AoO you need an equipped melee weapon, but not necessarily in your primary hand. If you carry 2 weapons and you DON'T use the 2nd weapon attack in your turn, you don't get 2WF penalties. I am not even sure to apply 2WF penalties on your AoO IF you used both weapon in this round's turn (as you for example do with Power Attack)... so if you DIDN'T use both weapon on your turn, I'd say you DON'T get 2WF penalties on the AoO (you don't get 2 AoOs because you wield 2 weapon! in this case you get an AoO when someone moves from 10ft to 5ft of you AND you still have a weapon usable at 5ft).

In 3.5, ambidex and 2-weapon will be 1 feat. Monkey Grip imposes it's own -2 to attacks.

If you want effective, focus and specialize in a weapon with reach, and just take a 5 foot adjustment each turn. The strange DR types can be handled by multiple copies of the weapon that you specialized in.

The monkey grip style is weak, but nifty looking.
