Does your gaming take a hit because of the holidays?

Yep, my gaming group pretty much becomes unavailable during the holidays. Which is especially frustrating to me and my SO because we don't have any family obligations. We'd game on Christmas Day if anyone else was available.

Yes it has. We game on Sunday afternooons and with two Sundays falling on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve they are off. Then there is the fact that some of our players have family up North so they are gone for some of the time and one player is in Peru with his wife and kids for the holidays.

I actually welcome the break. As a DM it gives me time to plan and as a player I catch up with other things.

Yes. We'll lose about 4 weeks between the end of November and the beginning of January this season. The good news is that we'll get in 3 weeks of play. This year's ratio of game nights will only be about 60% (perhaps less). I'm hoping 2007 will be better, but I doubt it. We're all getting older & busier.

Yep.

December is pretty much a No Go month with our group. Three of our players are married, all with children. The rest of us have a lot of travelling to do. Only one of us is younger than 30. So, yeah, between all the various kinds of celebrations, December turns into the Month Without Gaming. ;)

Yes, I live in a college town. Many of the players are on winter break for a couple of weeks. The group probably won't get together sometime in January!

Oh well, as DM, it gives me a chance to catch up :)

Definitely not. Although this year I'll only have two games in December (both Champions), that's typical for a month; in prior years, I recall an extra game day what with all the vacation time people have.

This year, the Wii launch hit the local gaming scene much harder than the Holidays seem likely to.

It does a little, but it doesn't bother me. My group is accustomed to playing alternating campaigns weekly, and from Thanksgiving to the new year we're looking at 3 sessions, mainly because of me. Compared to some of you guys, I'll take what I have in a heartbeat .

Yes. Though we're only losing one session to Christmas/New Year's this year, and avoided missing one for Thanksgiving by moving the Tuesday game to Monday.

Quite the opposite! :D

In addition to the regular mid-week game my friend will be running as usual, I'm returning to the DM chair to run a one-shot, all day, all night, 7 PC, D&D mini-campaign on the 29th of Desember. We'll start with having a big lunch, then game until dinner, and then game until the adventure is completed or we're too drunk to continue (whatever comes first :p ). After that we'll just party whatever's left of the night away.
