Does your gaming take a hit because of the holidays?

It does mess up our gaming for a couple weeks. We playing every Sunday evening, and so we have a break from about now until the New Year.

We should have had tonight as our last D&D game before 07', but due to a mix of work and potential spawning (one guy's GF having their 2nd baby) it's called off.

It's a shame but sometimes real life does get in the way (Damn you real life!).

Yes. Many of my players are students, and as such, they are often back home with their families during the holidays leaving me bored with nothing to do but play video games.

The group I'm in plays Saturdays. Fourteen people showed for yesterday's games (including one newcomer) plus one spectator. We're scheduled to meet up next Saturday and, despite some of the group having holiday commitments, we're expecting similar numbers. Same goes for Saturday the 30th. To be honest, I expected more disruption.

When I was in high school and first couple of years of college, holidays were prime-gaming time--let's face it, the holidays are boring once you realize that Santa is the man who passes out drunk every night on the couch with a bottle of vodka in his hand

Oh yeah it takes a hit.

Our group has an average age in the mid-30s, meaning most of us are family men.
From Thanksgiving (US) to New Year's we usually game 2-3 time total.

Severe. Kicked off my Wilderlands game 2 weeks ago. But we won't get another game in the works until Jan. 6. From about mid October thru Jan. 1 every year gaming is sparse - especially since we can't normally muster anything beyond 1/ 2 weeks, this sucks.

Not as much as from babies. we are have only had / have scheduled one game in December - but one player is due to give birth in the last week of December, So the current game is shot anyway. We even had to cancel the campaign wrap up session. The next baby (from another couple in the group) isn't due until June, so we have some leeway.

Not too bad. One of my players is the new guy at his work, so he's covering a lot of shifts. He worked Thursday morning, then was heading back to work Thursday night at 8, so I just called my Pendragon game. It will probably also skip next week for similiar issues.

My Wednesday Age of Worms game is off for this Wednesday as I'll be celebrating Christmas with my parents, before they head off to see my brothers. Should be back at its usual time next week.

The host of my Sunday game headed off Friday to see family, which is why I'm here typing instead of playing. He'll also be gone next Sunday, but should be home the Friday after Christmas, so we'll probably play that Sunday.

So, five sessions missed (or more likely four, since Pendragon is every other week). I guess it sounds like a lot, but between 3 games, it's not too bad.

I find the opposite is generally true for me. December-February is summer in Australia. Good weather and university on holidays means that everyone is more likely to be free to game. I am having a couple of weeks off so in addition to our regular fortnightly weeknight sessions I am trying to fit 1 or 2 full day sessions in to the schedule.
