Dog Soul Releases Cooper's Corrected Creature Codex: A - C

It's artistic. It catches the eye. It gives each word it's own feel. I likes it.
You could also say it is overly busy, cluttered, and pointless/unnecessary.

Don't mind me though, it's my editor/graphics layout side coming out. It's not something I would have done on anything I have produced. Not that I have produced much for the RPG industry, but I have for other markets.

I was tempted to pick it up on principal... but, personally, I think ~5 bucks would be my maximum price for the whole package.
Just buying A-C for 5$ seems a bit steep.

Depends on where you're coming from. As a publisher, game designer, and editor, five bucks is a steal because I will get a lot of use out if this product. Hell, I've already used it twice today and I just bought it last night. :D

Out of interest, how many monsters are there in the A-C range? And how many of those had an incorrect stat block?

There are 41 monsters, from aboleth to couatl. Seventeen of these monster were corrected, which leads me to my only complaint about the product. I would have rather had a product with just the seventeen that needed correction, than one with 24 that don't. But that said, I still think it's a good buy.

Would that have been as useful a reference? For each monster you'd have to decide if it was one of the ones that needed correction, or not. If it was, you'd have to look at the Cooper file- if not, you'd have to look at the SRD file. Better, I think, if you just had to look at one file.

Just to chime in, one of the other things to consider is that while the obvious focus of the series is to correct the creatures' stat blocks, while I was at it I also did a proofreading sweep on the rest of the entries. I only added the "Cooper's Comments" blocks to detail what specific stat block changes I made (and why), but there were a bunch of little things that got changed to a bunch of the other stat blocks/descriptions. I just didn't feel that anyone would be particularly interested to read a "Cooper's Comments" block that said "I added a comma between the main AC value and the touch AC value" or "I put the creature's feats in alphabetical order" or "There were two periods in a row at the end of a sentence, so I deleted one." That's all piddly little stuff that, while I deemed it worthy of correction, I didn't see the need to call attention to the fact that those changes were made.

So, even though 24 of the monsters are "straight from the SRD" with no "Cooper-level" stat block changes, they've still been polished a bit more for you. Of course, that said, I'm sure there were probably several that didn't require changes to stat blocks or corrections of a more basic nature, but I couldn't give you a number off the top of my head.

Am I right in assuming that those creatures that are not part of the SRD will not be included in the C4 project*? Without jumping through a lot of hoops I don't see how you will be able to include those and still retain a d20 OGL product.

* I rather like that as an abbreviation for this project. Short, sweet, and explosive. ;)
