4.5 is coming, that much we know for certain. Wizards has proven it with their current business model and the release of three editions in the last eight years.
And word has it they've barely playtested 4e, but hey, they don't care, that's where you the consumer come in. Wizards needs playtesters, but they're not keen about devoting time or money to the process. That's why 4e, like 3e, will be nothing more than a trial run at what they're trying to do with their new rule set. The real edition will arrive with a nifty 4.5 sticker on it.
But you don't have to 'sign up' with your wallet to playtest 4e for them. You don't have to waste weeks upon weeks on the Wizards boards arguing about the short-sighted design put into 4e because they'll be using those very boards and your feedback to find those flaws. Why should YOU work for Wizards without seeing a dime?
Simply put, demand a better product from Wizards. Don't waste your time on 4e. Don't play their game. Let them sweat it for a change. Let THEM do the hard work they have come to expect from the gaming community. Sheesh, they can't even edit their own books anymore, let alone put out a solid product.
If Wotc wants to succeed, then they'll have to stop sucking off their fanbase like leeches. Sure, the community contributes to every edition (and should), but we're not your freaking workhorses. You do the work, we'll enjoy the game.
