Double Weapons: Popularity?

I've always like double weapon fighters. More versatile than a two-handed weapon fighter, more powerful than a sword-and-shield fighter. It's a good mix. Want TWF? Go for it. Want PA? Go for it. Heck, you can switch between the two mid-battle. Start off with TWF for more damage, then if it has DR, switch up to PA. Weapon Focus and Sense Weakness applies to both head.

No one's ever used them in my games. No one's ever even asked about it.

For the record, I ban just about all of them (retaining the quarterstaff, double sword, and gythka) on the grounds that they don't make a lick of sense. Orc PrCs typically replace EWP: Orc Double Axe with Weapon Focus: Greataxe, instead.

I think the Orc Double-Axe makes sense if you compare it to the Klingon weapons...

Making sense is overrated in a fantasy game. ;)

Unless you're aiming for "medieval (or whichvever, including alternate history) age, except with dragons and magic," of course.

I couldn't tell; my perceptions differ from the norm. (I.e., my mental health isn't up to par.)

(For the record, that was in reply to Jdvn1.)
