Draconic Griffon

I know if your going to go strictly by the rules this doesn't really apply, but considering a griffon has a intelligence score of 5 and yet can still not speak any languages.... would it be a fair rule to apply that a draconic griffon could understand draconic in addition to common? or maybe it only understands draconic. Its logically feasible considering it has dragon in its blood... maybe its heritage or family has understood draconic ever since... or i could just say it came from argonessen (ebberon).

This seems fair to me also for the reason that the draconic template really doesn't help a griffon nearly as much as other creatures (it already has just as good of claws and darkvision)

If a child is the result of its (British) mother's wild holiday affair during her stay in France, will the child understand French? :p

I agree with Kae. If it was raised among other draconic creatures, sure. But if it was raised among other normal griffons or humanoids, no.

nah they are right, if i was born in germany to german parents then they died and i was taken here... i wouldn't get to automatically know german.

And you criticise the French? You have no right! Only I have. Because I was forced to learn their language :p ;)

(Nothing against the French, but I hated learning French. Probably just because so many other kids were allowed to learn English right away - something that would have been very useful while playing all those computer games, which weren't being translated back then - while I had to wait a couple of years and take English as my second foreign language.)

But back on topic:
I stick to my theory, even though D&D doesn't always. Maybe with 4e, they will add another layer in character creation, and we'll have Race, Class(es), Culture.
