Dragon #294 in today!

I'm beginning to suspect that DDG and ELH have less and less rules in common. The limited rumors I have heard make me think that DDG aren't neccesarily built with a subset of ELH.

I think they are. But if you look closely you will notice that none of the gods revealed so far have more than 20 single-class levels.

So I think they will show the basics of Epic Progression in D&Dg without giving away the single class extrapolations that occur.

In fact I sort of know they will - at least thats how it seems to me based on what I know of the two. However, I just posed such a question to Andy Collins over at his website so hopefully I'll get a reply if hes not too busy!? :)

Hi Glyfair mate! :)

Does Pholtus also have Divine Shield? (as a prerequisite to Area Divine Shield I am implying)

Altogether some very interesting sounding Abilities.

Rao does have Divine Blast. Other interesting feats: Divine Fast Healing, Divine Inspiration (Hope), Gift of Life, Clearsight. All-in-all he has 22 SDA, his avatar 11. Pholtus does have Divine Shield.

Iuz only has 4 SDA ( Alter Size, Alter Form, Lay Curse, Wound Enemy).

.What is in the high level article? any juicy hints?

Well, they mention the "impossible" uses for skills we already knew about in the article. Passing through a wall of force with escape artist is DC 120, Opening a lock as a free action adds 50 to the DC, Swimming up a waterfall is only DC 80.

They have 5 epic feats described. Distant Shot lets you target anything you can see with no range penalty. Vorpal Strike lets you behead opponents with unarmed Strikes. Tenacious Spell is a metamagic feat (or so it seems) that means the spell can't be dispelled, only suppressed for 1d4 rounds. having Positive Energy Aura means you automatically turn or destory undead with 30 feet of you. Legendary Tracker lets you track anywhere (including in the air).

Several of the new feats and skill uses seem quite powerful even if the DC for some skill uses seems a bit astronomical.

22 SDA?
With his Divine Rank of 17 he should have only 18.
Does he have anything that could have gotten him 4 more?

It obviously has nothing to do with him being Greater God,
as Hera's Avatar doesn't have 2 SDA more.

Well, here are the number of Salient Divine Abilities of the Gods in Dragon #294 and their avatars:

Iuz (DR 3/NA): 4/NA
Pholtus (DR 15/7): 18/9
Rao (DR 17/8): 22/11
Tharizdun (DR 11/5): 14/7

For comparison:
Hera (?/8): ?/10
Hercules (5/NA): 5/NA
Hermes (15/7): 18/9

Maybe you can gain bonus Divine Salient Abilities from high stats, with certain classes, or with certain domains/portfolios.

Also, Rao is the only one with that high of a divine rank we know of now. Perhaps it's not linear. Hera presumbably has a DR of 16 & 20 DSAs.
