Dragon Age 4 - now The Veilguard

Everything I've heard about this game so far seems like an improvement, but will no doubt cause ever-more complaining from people who wish for DAO 2, and have wished impotently for that for 14 years. Not here but I've also seen some incredible double-contradictory-whinges where people have simultaneously whinged that the game has "changed direction" but also whined that it should be like DAO because BG3 was a success - never mind that BG3 only succeeded less than a year ago and is nothing like DAO, and that that would require another "change of direction", the very thing they were moaning about! This to me says that, no matter how good the game is, it'll get a huge amount of negativity for not being whatever bizarre and unlikely thing fans imagined. The same risk exists for many long-time sequels. ME5, if it happens, will likely get similar treatment ("Oh this isn't totally different game I made up in my head? Guess it sucks then!").
I loved DAO. It was the best of them; however, it sounds like they may go to a ME style system and I would be fine with it. I just do not want to see another idiotic open world grind. I also hope that we get decent companions. I was not a fan of them in inquisition either.

If it is anything like Inquisition or Andromeda, then I am out. Inquisition was terrible with 100 grind for 6 hours of story. I detested the kill 10 bears, fetch, and telescope quests. I felt cheated after 117 hours to beat the game.
Bioware is hopefully aware of the problems those two games had. If not, they're in deep trouble.

Hello it's me, the one single Dragon Age II fan, looking forward to the new one.
Dragon Age: Origins had the cleanest, most developed story, IMO, but Dragon Age 2’s gameplay and characters and the focus on Hawke were some of my favorite parts of the series. Overall I didn’t like Inquisition. The character were great, but I didn’t like the changes to combat, the pivot away from the Mage-Templar problem, and pointlessly large open worlds with an ungodly amount of collectible items. It felt like it was trying to copy Skyrim without understanding why the open world worked for Skyrim. I have completed the first two games several times. I’ve only completed Inquisition once.

I’m curious about the next game. The Dreadwolf part of Inquisition was easily my favorite part of the game. I’ve always been interested in Tevinter and I’m curious to see how the gameplay, characters, and story compare to the other games. Fingers crossed that I’ll like it.

I love Dragon Age II, and I actually enjoy it quite a bit more the DAO. I've played through DA2 the most of the three games.

However, Inquisition is my favorite of the three so far. I greatly enjoyed the Dragon Fights, War Table quests, and all the exploring and worldbuilding in the game. If Veilguard is like Inquisiton, I'm sure I will love it.

One of the things I'm looking forward to is more sprinkling of the lore for the various religions and the Gods and mythical beings of those religions such as the Old Gods, the Evanuris, the Maker and the Black City, the Qun and more of it's origins, and the Primordial Titans, and the mysterious Great Dragons that have been mentioned in Digital Comics Dragon Age: The Silent Grove and Dragon Age: Until We Sleep.

Bioware got their lunch so thoroughly eaten by Larian and BG3 that there's no way DA4 can measure up. I'll watch the gameplay but it sounds like it'll be more on the action-y side of the equation.

But then, my fav has always been DA2, or as I know it, the one where Hawke and a bunch of disaster bisexuals wander around Kirkwall, trading barbs with each other and weapons and spells with whoever interrupts their banter.l
Hawke is also my favorite. Really wish we’d gotten The Exalted March.
