One of my friends wants to try a dragon disciple coz he finds him interesting with those wings and claw attacks..

I wanna help him make one good DD but i am not proficient with this class..

Do you want any good feat-combo for Dragon disciple that would be usefull to him?

What about items?
Classes?

Thx in advance!

not that i'm anywhere close to an authority on the matter, a dragon disciple is widely considered a melee-centric class, or so i've been lead to believe. although it boosts a few spells, most of the benefits greatly cater to the front-line crowd. if you're considering dragon shaman, and not a few levels in a caster-class that has spontaneous casting, maybe see if your DM would let you trade in said requirement for another one that better reflects the dragon shaman - something like "...at least X auras known..." or something of the sort.

also, in the draconomicon and dragon magic, they've got some nifty meta-breath feats to take. entangling breath is pretty sweet, or so i've heard.

good luck.

Dragon Shaman should stay (mostly) Dragon Shaman.

If you want to be a Dragon Disciple, there are a few decent ways in.

My favorite Core build is Paladin 4-9 / Sorcerer 1 / Dragon Disciple 10. Add the bonus spells from Dragon Disciple to your highest available Paladin spell slots; your two Sorcerer spells known are feather fall and true strike; wear heavy armor, pump Charisma, take Power Attack and Divine Might, and lay in with your Greatsword.

I recall that the Bardbarrian dragon disciple I made on Neverwinter Nights was pretty effective in melee. But that was based on the 3.0 rules mostly. I don't believe bards can still cast bulls strength to go with rage.

That aside as the others said Dragon Disciple is best for front line characters. Any full caster would lose too much in the magic department.

I agree with the penguin, yet I'd rather take True Strike and Shield... but that's only because maximum falling damage isn't scary for these kinds of chars ;)

The Paladin-build is interesting. That might in fact be a good choice.

I think Barbarian/Sorcerer isn't bad, either. The natural armor compensate the barbarians AC weakness, while the remaining benefits play to his strength. Only weakness is that you can't get cast spells while raging.

Hmm. I don't remember if they still have the spell, but the effects would certainly stack.
But Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 both seem to be a bit more forgiving on your character builds then, say, the Age of Worms adventure path. ;)

What is it with all the dragon threads?
I wonder if people really need a Dragon-like player race. But aside from Arcana Evolved, there just isn't anything for them...

The power gamer in our group is playing a Mnk-2/Sor-1/Brb-1/Ftr-1/Dra-8 wielding a spiked chain. Tripping, Range, Evasion, casting Shield & Enlarge Person -- those are the major elements from a DM perspective I notice.

True Strike & Featherfall are distinguished by being V-only. You can cast them in Fullplate. :)

Shield is a fine choice too, but you'll want to top your Pal 4 / Sorc 1 / DD 10 build with Abjurant Champion 5.

At 12th level, take the feat Double Draconic Aura (from Dargon Magic). The name says it all. heh heh. Project "Power" and "Toughness" or "Vigor" at the same time.
