Dragonball Z Questions

I've never seen the original version. I'm just going by the english translation which gave his name as "Uub".

I'm relatively certain the name "Ubu" is copyright some other American studio ("sit Ubu, sit"), so that's why they couldn't/wouldn't use it. Uub isn't that bad comparatively, just being "Buu" backwards.

I just was trying to point out that there really weren't that many people who were equal to Freiza, and only a few were from Earth.

The only one that really could have presented a challenge to Freiza's reign was Daborah (since Androids 16, 17, and 18 didn't exist, yet). Looking around the net, it appears that he was from another dimension, so that would explain why the two never crossed swords.

Well, I'm still suspicious about any DBZ info presented on the net. I don't yet have the manga with him yet, so I can't offer comment there though (It's only a matter of time though).

I wasn't aware of that, but I kind of figured that there was something wrong with the "android" translation considering that 18 had a child. I had assumed they were grown somehow similar to Cell, but then I saw 16 get damaged and he had robotic parts, so then I didn't know what to think.

After all, it's an action comic and a cartoon, so it really isn't built upon a foundation of science. :)

Point. Though where the science does come into play, its impressive. The DBZ RPG book gave the science reason for how those spaceships could travel faster than light without having to use the overdone "hyperspace" explanation - I forget what they said, but it was quite refreshing.

On the Androids, most of them are robot-types (Cell himself is quite surprised by that with 16).

Android 8, from when Goku fought the Red Ribbon Army (whom he nicknamed Hatchan), was a robot-type, though like 16, he was benevolent. Androids 13, 14, and 15 (from the seventh movie) were also complete robot-types (13 used that to his adantage, absorbing parts from 14 & 15 to become Super Android 13), as was 16 & 19. Android 20 was a robot-type, save for having Dr. Gero's brain implanted in the cranium. 17 & 18 were humans who kept their original bodies, but had some sort of mechanical work done on them. It's interesting that they, like the other mechanical Androids, had no ki whatsoever.

For the record, Android Super 17 shouldn't have had any ki either, despite what the characters in GT said about feeling that he had a huge ki aura.
