I don't read a huge amount of fantasy literature, so I don't really have a baseline I guess. I have read LOTR and some of George Martin's work. These books are fabulous. Dragons of Autumn Twilight isn't even close to these in terms of quality. I don't want to say that it is a bad book, but it's pretty close. It really isn't good. My question is, do these books get any better than this? If not, I have no interest in spending any more time reading these. Is Dragons of Autumn Twilight typical or is it of lower quality than the others?

Heh, that almost happened you know. I don't remember the details, but for whatever reason Salvatore was done with Drizzt and WotC. WotC hired another writer to create a new Drizzt story. This other writer completed the novel, it was advertised for release, then all of a sudden Bob came back to WotC and the new Drizzt novel disappeared into the ether. Did they offer Salvatore more money? Did Salvatore freak when he discovered someone else was writing stories for his character? I don't know, and we'll probably never find out. And while I do like Salvatore's writing and all of his Drizzt books, I do think it's a shame this other writer's completed manuscript will never see the light of day.carmachu said:It does, in a way still. Its like having someone else write the Drizzt books other than Salvatore(and I really hate that dark elf now).
