And Welcome BendBars/LiftGates,( something a character hasn't had to do in a long long time lol) Glad you want to play. Caramon is one of my favorites as well. He is the archtype fighter he didn't even have a specialty by todays standards. Just big guy taking out the bad guys sometimes by bashing heads together. You are welcome to place your ideals for Caramon (just remember Caramon is smarter and wiser than people give him credit for)

Just thinking maybe Caramon is more warlord(tatical) than Sturm and Sturm is the defender type fighter These new rules will give me a fried brain yet.

Caramon is a Fighter, definitely not a Warlord. As I see it, the party is this:

Raistlin: Wizard
Tanis: Ranger
Caramon: Fighter
Flint: Fighter
Sturm: Fighter or Paladin (Maybe Multiclass feat: Warlord)
Tasselhoff: Rogue

Yes, I know that's a lot of defenders, but that is how the party is built up. Later they are joined by other classes, thereby filling their lack of a Leader.

Tas with 32 points: Str 12, Con 14, Dex 18, Int 15, Wis 8, Cha 18
Tas with 22 points: Str 10, Con 13, Dex 17, Int 14, Wis 8, Cha 17

I picked low Wisdom to represent his lack of common sense in many situations...I could up it to reflect better senses, but I don't know how worthwhile it would be.

Both would build Tas with Artful dodger Rogues, and mostly have ranged rogue powers for use with his Hoopak (sling) and thrown daggers. I would likely select a small number of powers for melee daggers, just in case bad guys get too close.

It might be fun to eventually take the fighter multiclass feat for the Taunt and some bludgeoning melee powers for the Quarterstaff side of the hoopak.

Also, there aren't any masterwork rules for weapons as far as I can tell-so plain old quarterstaff/sling sounds like fun.

Well, the more I read into the Paladin, the more I think that class could work well for Sturm if one downplays the golden radiant, holy glowing, pearly luminicent things. Your call....

Welcome ShaggySpellsword, We are currently going over the characters abilities and why they have/had what scores and all please join in with any comments on any of the already posted character stats and post what you believe Tas's would be. And use the link posted by Zweischneid it is really cool (thanks again Z) Use 32 pts and 22 pts trying to see what we get.

Raistlin, 22 and 32 point versions:

22 points:
Str 10, Con 8, Dex 13, Int 18 (20 with Human bonus), Wis 13, Cha 10

32 points:
Str 11, Con 10, Dex 14, Int 18 (20 with Human bonus), Wis 15, Cha 11

In honesty I feel the 22 points suits him best. I just don't see Raistlin having other high stats than his Intelligence.

I agree that Raistlin shouldn't have more than a 8 Con or a 10 Str; His Int should be maxed, his Dex should be decent (he had very good manual dexterity/sleight of hand skills), and his Wisdom should probably be pretty decent. Charisma could go a couple of ways: he has a VERY strong force of personality (high charisma) but he's not very likeable (low charisma).

I agree it could go alot of ways With Raistlin's Charisma just average it out in the 32 pt buy you could lower Wis a little like we talked about and bring his force of personality up alittle.

No masterwork I do need to finish the PHB and I like the 32 pt buy start on feats maybe we should have the whole characters done out and then go over them?

To Zweichneid: let's try a paladin build see what the feat/skills look like and come back to stats cool? and I'm sure Sturm has a halo just noone can see it.

What should I do make a Rogue Gallery thread and go over character creation there after everyone has submited there thoughts or just do one phase at a time like we are now??

I'd love to play Tanis.

Any chance I could do him as a Ranger with the Warlord MC feat instead of as a Inspiring Warlord?

Otherwise, Tasslehoff would be really fun.

Go ahead and do a build for Tanis also Ivid hasn't started but he will have a shot at playing him also

Caramon is a giant of a man, and is, physically, a powerful juggernaut. Mentally, he's almost helpless, of course. His unexpected ace in the hole is his nurturing instinct, good looks, and friendly attitude, which make him the perfect foil for Raistlin, who needs, exploits, and envies him.

Actually, I'd say I think the stat build for Raistlin before could reflect a higher Wisdom and lower Charisma. Raistlin is pretty put together, and if he makes poor choices it's only because we don't have the same priorities as the mage. His low Charisma comes from his acrid personality, disdain for everyone around him, and complete disinterest in makign friends. In fact, outside of Caramon and Bupu, has Raistlin had a single friend in his whole life?

Maybe his Charisma drops after the Test of High Sorcery, but I don't think 4e makes it easy to cut down your PC's ability scores so this might be hard later.

Tanis was a friend and Crysian(spelling) loved him.

Go ahead and try a 32 build for Caramon remember he was wiser than most people gave him credit for just not alot of smarts to back it up. And everyone liked him so CHA 15/16?

Cutting down ability scores? Easy enough if you give apporprite compensation (Would you lose two points CON and two points STR to gain The Staff of Magius??)

I don't think Crysania was attracted to him due to his charisma, but instead because she had an unending belief that there was good in him. As for Tanis, then you can have a friend or two even with a charisma of 10 (possibly lower), it's just that you'll have a harder time making one. There are several people in this world with low charisma who has both friends and spouses, it's just that they have fewer than average (which I think Raistlin fits under).
