Dragonmarked

I get the impression that they didn't feel folks were embracing the Dragonmarks, finding the spell not worth the feat, so they escalated it a little bit. I'm not thinking they're too powerful as is, though a DM needs to watch them, but not sure they'll really increase Mark use either. I think the problem with Dragonmarks is the lack of feats overall. My players don't really get behind the Houses though, I gave each of them a free dragonmark and 3 of 5 took Aberrants. Only one really feels like the Houses matter, and even he has the wrong house for what he is. (Mark of Finding for a more Cannith type, an artificer. Even going Wand Master Guy.)

I think flavor text (!) was another problem. Having a Dragonmark meant you were tied to a House, but the nature of the ties was left unclear. Many players thought this meant the House would control them too much to actually allow them to adventure.

(Also, a party of all Marked PCs would be a little unusual.)

Mark of the Dauntless requiring a Siberys mark, however, greatly limits the awesome.
To be clear, the actual feat requires True (as opposed to Aberrant) dragonmark. Siberys Mark would be an okay requirement, but I'd say any DM should watch use of the feat as it stacks with other abilities. Limiting it to "immune to stun/dazed from external sources" or something would also limit it's abuse while still keeping it powerful/ useful.

I always had the impression that the Houses didn't control all the heirs, but that an heir working in a house could make good money and such. I can see how it could be unclear though. Most of the time with my powergamers, it just didn't fit in.

All tied to a prophecy, they got Geas'd into the first adventure even. :)

Index: no

Ignore Stunned/Dazed: Mark of the Dauntless, cannot be stunned/dazed, can remove the condition from another with Standard action & touch.

House Lyranders gets the normal write-up, plus Storm Sentry (PrC, improved gust of wind & wind related stuff, warrior type), Storm Riposte feat (spend 1 AP to attack foe that just attacked you, deal extra sonic or electric damage), Stormrider (reroll balance 1/day, take 10 on balance checks, gain resistance to electricity & sonic)
Could you give a bit more details on Storm Sentry?

First detail on all the PrC's is that they count as levels in Dragonmark Heir for determining caster level of Mark abilities. (max 5 levels)

full BAB, good fort/ref, more gusts of wind, featherfall power, 2- shield power, add level to DC for gust of wind & stuff, 3- Lyranders Fist (single creature, gust of wind, bullrush), 4- Storm Strike (shockign weapon), 5- Gale Froce (improved Gust of Wind)

I just got it today. As said, each chapter is on a house giving a brief origin, powers, a given personality then some feats and Prestige Class stuff. Also gives location and HQ layout which the Jorrosco (SP) one is neat. An Asylum is within it. Oh the ideas.......

The gnomes of Sivis scare me. The two from Reynolds work look like the devil's children and the one shown within their chapter is very unhinged and manic. Gnomes...

Does Dragonmarked offer explanations behind each house's heraldry? Specifically, the reasons behind each magical beast and weapon displayed?

After perusing this latest Eberron supplement, I'm even more interested in playing a plain ol' non-marked standard human fighter (or rogue) just to avoid the elaborate 'bling' of special character abilities.

Yes, that's right. I'm claiming "bling" for use in D&D to refer to flashy, unnecessary character design options with too much effort to impress and complicate life. Right here. Right now. ... This book of dragonmark feats and spells and prestige classes is so much bling.
