Dragonmarks are awesome!

I think they're waaaay to good if you're not playing in a game in Eberron or a setting that uses the DM Houses.

They're only okay if they have a roleplaying cost to me.

Yeah. If the player is not of the house that "owns" the dragonmark, as soon as they have been around for a while, they can expect to have many, many problems as the Dragonmarked house will try to find out why the dragonmark is outside the traditional bloodlines, usually with fairly unpleasant side-effects for the holder.
