Draw Steel General Thread [+]

My character died last night, the first time it's happened to me in Draw Steel. When it happened I was very frustrated with the system, because it largely came from another playing wanting to take their turn and then not doing anything because of conditions and positioning. But after I thought about it I realized at least it was because of a decision the group made, and I could look back and find the specific decision that lead to it, where as in d20 it would have been completely up to the dice.

Impressive, considering all that must occur for a character to die:

  • Hit 0 Stamina and continue to do Main Actions / Triggered Actions / make Might/Agil tests despite this, triggering the Bleed effect.
  • Have nobody come around and use Heal on them, or any of the various other abilities which allow the Dying character to Recover (or be entirely out of Recoveries).
  • Through Bleed or additional damage, reach negative Stam = Winded.

So like, lots of decision space prior to that final state.
