Going with CC will NOT clue in most of those wanting to use it, because of CC being a basic Charlie-Foxtrot.
no idea what this part means

And note that CC does NOT require users to open source unless it's a -SA, so on that score, CC-BY isn't what he's going for; he needs CC-BY-SA.
Even most CC advocates can't get it right.
he does not care about SA from my understanding, there is a reason I omitted it

He doesn't need to; it's inherent in his choice of license.
I am not getting your point. First you insist that I should have added SA to the CC-BY when Matt said nothing about him wanting that, and now you bring up ORC as a license that inherently requires sharing, but Matt is not using that either.

You seem to be stuck on this SA bit for no apparent reason

The requirement to open source at least part of the product is absent in CC-BY. It is automatic in ORC.
The ability to exclude part of the product is absent in CC-____; it's inherent in ORC.

He doesn't need to discuss the share alike aspect; you can't remove that from the ORC. (Nor from W OGL1.0a.) But to compare either the W OGL or ORC to a CC, you are not equivalent unless you include the share alike clause.

Essentially, you're claiming a proverbial Orange and a proverbial Lemon are the same thing.

As I understand it, @mamba is saying that the licence MCDM is using - Draw Steel Creator License — MCDM Productions - is functionally equivalent to CC BY, so it would have made more sense to just use the latter.

Whether or not mamba is correct, I don't see what ORC or the OGL or CC BY-SA has to do with it. The MCDM licence doesn't seem to have share-alike as a goal.

CC-BY isn't what he's going for; he needs CC-BY-SA.
I don't know what your basis is for this claim. MCDM doesn't seem to have share-alike as a goal. It's not a part of the actual licence they are using.

I am saying Matt does not care about SA and neither does the license he chose. I am not confusing anything.

You are bringing your lemon to a field of oranges and no one asked for one…
