Dream Campaign?

I'd like to be able to wrap up my d20 Modern campaign, which ran for two years and had to end only 2 or 3 gaming sessions shy of the big finale, due to my spouse and I having a baby (a joyous event) and one of our players moving out of state (not so joyous).

The plot: ordinary humans trying to keep an army of devils and evil fae from gobbling up the few remaining mythical worlds standing between Hell and earth, and to reawaken Arthur and Merlin in time for them to contribute to the final battle.

The PCs:
-- A homicide detective, who eventually discovers that she is also Nimue, the Lady of the Lake
-- An MIT robotics grad student, who integrates magic and technology in his inventions
-- A mob enforcer who is also a werebear
-- A young college student with psionic powers
-- A vet who once served with a secret US Army unit that did recon missions in Faerie

Where we stopped: the PCs, in the land of Albion, alongside the last surviving knights of the Round Table, have recovered the Holy Grail and are besieged within the walls of Perilous Gard by an army of devils and Unseelie elves (drow, essentially).

Since this time you asked "run or play in", instead of just "run" as Gwaihir did, I'll answer, since I don't DM. I have a ton of things I'd like to do, but I think the one I'd most like is to get back into "The City", the D&D campaign we started right after 3.0 was released. It went on "indefinite hiatus" a couple of years ago. :(

Either that, or a Star Wars d20 game with the guy who GM's it for some of my friends. They've had an awesome time in their campaign with him and I'm terribly envious. :)

Honestly, the most fun that I've ever had in a D&D game (well, AD&D 1e/2e) was in a home-brewed fantasy setting. A globe-trotting campaign, the party had a clipper ship at their disposal and the GM drew up an entire island chain on the backs of paper grocery sacks (faux parchment) and would pin them to the wall of the game room whenever the PCs discovered one during actual play. It was a really great way to convey the feeling of discovery.

The campaign itself started off as an exercise in exploration, and took on a kind of 'One Piece' quality in its second year (this was, mind you, before One Piece existed, so the idea was pretty cool at the time). Eventually, the campaign folded due to real life issues as it crept into its third year, but it's still the most exciting game that I've ever played in (due largely to very good GMing and the ability of the players to work together, even if the PCs were secretly plotting against one another).

I'm running my dream campaign, which I had wanted to run for years and finally had the chance to. It's basically a Planescape campaign which centers on discovering the true story behind the gau'tier. It involves Temples on every plane that lead to other Temples on other planes, so the PCs will visit every plane during the campaign, uncover the secrets of the multiverse, and finally come face to face with a god who is older than the (current incarnation of the) multiverse.

It's so big, though, that it is going to run years, especially since every adventure doesn't run around the main plot. I just hope people (including me) don't move away in the meantime.

As the OP I guess I should chime in.

I would love to play in a long term supers game. Possibly based around something like the Exiles - with variations of familiar heros from Marvel or DC hoping through alternate realities on a grand quest. Unfortunatelly the only person I know with enough ranks in Knowledge(comics) to pull that off is me. Actually, any supers game would be fun, but with my group its unlikely to happen.

I would like to run a magic-punk no holds barred planescape/spelljammer/eberron-esque game with Mindflayer plots and a vast lovecraftian metaplot. Something that I might get around to someday.

Either playing or GMing, an all-dwarf campaign that dealt heavily with dwarven culture and society, along with a good amount of action. System would either be C&C or Warhammer 2e.

Either that or an extraplanar or spelljammer campaign focused on exploration.

* Valus + Iron Heroes.

* A Planescape game where everyone really understood the setting.

* Star Wars (I'm easy that way)
Well you can always read Funeris's story hour and bug him & Destan for updates. Link in the Sig.

I have had the same vision for a few years of the greatest campaign ever (in my opinion, lol). The rules have changed a little as i read more things and get new ideas. But right now its basically a warhammer 40K world setting with a cthulu/lovecraftian type over plot.

Right now i plan to use a slightly modified white wolf system. I think thats the best overall system for a game that is gritty with every combat being a chance to get mained or killed. I also like how it way emphasizes skills over equipment. I hope to run this as my next campaign and am currently writing up details.
