Drider statue (Warning: Bare-breasted artwork!)

Hmmm, I was wondering if it was 'poor mad Arachne, half spider still'

Dore's illustration for Dante's Purgatorio has always creeped me.

I assume they were prepubescent, right?

Yeah, they were young kids. But there are still plenty of public baths that are co-ed. My wife was surprised that they even make kid's swimsuits in the US. She couldn't figure why anyone cared. My mom was all around shocked that the parents here don’t care about nudity, but do often object to toy guns.

Things have been changing recently. We're getting more and more western influence. More and more violence and more and more people upset about nudity. Oh well, the world changes!

Re: the statue - Spider, for some reason, I had it in my mind that you were the owner of the gallery. I totally understand not wanting to photograph from indoors without permission. I'll pull down that photo I tried to make too.

In Canada, a woman can walk down the street bare-breasted if she chooses. Few choose to - but it's perfectly legal. At virtually every European beach (and many Canadian ones) - bare breasts are de rigeur.

I understand America is more conservative - but to object to plaster depictions of mammary glands on a sculpture is...*wow*.

Just... *wow*.

Many US beaches are just fine for legal topless women. Oddly enough, at my local beach, topless is OK, but there is a law banning thongs. I think that is mostly for fat French Canadian asses :-).

Oops, did I say 'asses'? There might be a 12 year old reading this. I should really be ashamed.

I first checked the pictures before reading the actual post, so my first thought was "But I always thought driders had claws, not hands."

For some reason, spider legs with hands are much creepier.
